New Government in the Year of Child Rights...

I don't know what was in the mind of  Ex. Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf when he declared Year 2013 as YEAR OF CHILD RIGHTS" .I think he was believed may they not be any more as ruling party during the Year 2013 and they have failed to serve in the field of child protection like many other areas and the New coming Government will definitely be considering the issue of child rights on priority, So, he shifted the responsibility on the shoulders of new Government and declared 2013 as Year of Child Rights.

Child Protection Bill: 
The bill includes the amendments related to very important issue of children like Child Abuse, Child Marriages, Minimum age of Criminal Responsibility etc. and the setting up of National Commission on the Rights of Children. The bill pending with legislatures since long time should be taken in consideration immediately as it had approved by the last cabinet in the ending days.

Situation of Child Rights in Punjab:
The situation of child rights in Punjab is not only bad but the worst it is. in last five years not a single remarkable legislation has been passed by the provincial assembly, being the big province in Pakistan it should take lead but unfortunately its legislatures are not as proactive as of other provinces. If we see Child Labor is on the peak, Child Protection Welfare bureau is not working as efficient as it should be due to lack of political will, Child Domestic Labor has taken the lives of many children, there is not central authority in the province who could take lead to monitor the situation of the rights of children, Government Schools need the same consideration which are Danish school systems are enjoying means every School should be the DANISH KADAA.Punjab Government may follow to Gilgit-Balstistan to promulgate  a comprehensive child protection law.

So considering the "Child Rights are Human Rights" Federal and Provincial Governments should take up the issues of child rights in priority list. If the  Prime Minster Raja Pervez Ashraf has declared this year as Year of Child Rights, then you both should take it as Challenge and should announce the Package to assure the Child Right in Pakistan and Provinces.
